For this special Xmas blend, a selection is made by our brewmaster between barrel-aged Quadrupel on the one hand and young Quadrupel on the other. This beer is brewed from time to time and is not fixed in our assortment.
The tannin from the barrels forms a harmonious whole with the rich notes of the special malts in the Quadrupel beer. The combination of the taste of the wood aging and the young Quadrupel beer creates a unique and powerful blend. Thanks to the refermentation in the bottle, the taste evolves year after year.
Our Xmas blend has an intense dark brown color.
Depending on the origin of the barrel, this maturation will also bring about different aromas. New wood of American and French origin is used, as well as recycled barrels of Whisky, Rum, Bordeaux, Calvados, etc.

Brouwerij de Halve Maan
Bierbrouwerij De Halve Maan is sinds 1856 gevestigd in het historische stadscentrum van Brugge. Een aantal jaar geleden hebben zij hier zelf een heuse bierleiding aangelegd om het bier van de brouwerij zo voordelig en handig mogelijk naar de bottelarij 3km verderop te krijgen. De overlast van de tankwagens in de stad leidde hiervoor tot onveilige situaties en was vervelend voor de inwoners, maar ook voor de vele toeristen die dagelijks naar Brugge komen.
De eeuwenoude traditie van bier brouwen in goed te zien in deze familiebrouwerij. Dagelijks zijn er rondleidingen door de moderne brouwerij en door het museum. De huisbieren van De Halve Maan zijn wereldberoemd. De Brugse Zot en de bieren van Straffe Hendrik staan wereldwijd dan ook hoog aangeschreven.
